Due to the commercial value of this data, we cannot show figures for the total time spent. On each platform, but we can show the ranking order as well as the average time per user for each platform. But those average time per user figures tell a fascinating story in their own right. Among the most used social media apps in the world, TikTok enjoyed the highest average monthly usage per user over the course of 2022.
Platform's Android app spent an average of nearly 23½ hours a month using the phone numbers in mexico TikTok app between January and December last year, just ahead of YouTube's 23 hours and 09 minutes. TikTok's rise to the top of these rankings may not come as a surprise, but some of the data fueling its rise may still surprise some. For example, the platform's own data shows that posts tagged with #FYP ("for your page") have now been viewed a total of 35 billion times, and yes, that's really billions . Even if each of those views only lasted a second , that would add up to more than 1 million years of combined human existence…
and that's just for videos tagged with #FYP. But in what might be another surprise if you've been reading the mainstream media recently, Facebook ranks third in data.ai's figures for average time spent per user, at almost 20 hours per month. Additionally, data.ai intelligence reveals that the average time Facebook users spend using the platform's Android app has increased over the past year, from an average of 19.6 hours per month, per user in 2021 , to 19.7 hours in 2022. And just to add context, Statcounter data suggests that Android phones make up 72 percent of all smartphones in use today. On the other hand, it's interesting to note that the typical Instagram user only spends half as much time using the platform as TikTok users. But Instagram usage varies significantly from country to country.
